Since its inception in 1997 EnviroAfrica has been appointed to a great variety of projects. Founder Bernard de Witt and his competent staff have extensive experience in developing the environmental and conservation interface of a large range of development projects. EnviroAfrica is an equal opportunity employer that strives to give preference to suitably qualified previously disadvantaged individuals or firms employing such individuals. Meet the Team

Bernard has more than 40 years’ experience in the environmental field. He is a Registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner with the Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association of South Africa (EAPASA) (EAPASA Reg. 2012/3903)

Bernard boasts over four decades of extensive experience in the environmental sector. His career began in 1983 when he joined the Department of Forestry as an Indigenous Forest Planner. Over the course of the next 14 years, he climbed the ranks, eventually serving as the Manager of the Table Mountain Reserve with the Cape Town City Council. Subsequently, Bernard transitioned to Cape Nature Conservation (CNC), where he led the Conservation Planning Section and later assumed the role of District Manager for the Boland area, overseeing significant regions such as Hawequas (Paarl), Hottentots Holland (Grabouw), Hermanus, and Kogelberg (Kleinmond).

In his capacity as a Regional Ecologist, Bernard played a pivotal role in coordinating, managing, and providing scientific insights for Provincial Nature Reserves and Mountain Catchment areas in the Boland, Overberg, and West Coast regions. During the final four years of his government service, he specialized in assessing and evaluating Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports for development applications, representing CNC (now DEA&DP) and contributing valuable environmental perspectives.

Since concluding his tenure in the public sector in 1997, Bernard has dedicated his expertise to environmental consulting in the private sector. Since founding EnviroAfrica in 1997, he has been actively involved in a diverse array of projects, serving as an Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) and Project Leader. His portfolio includes notable ventures in Renewable Energy, Dams, Pipelines, Water Treatment Plants, Telecommunication Masts, Cemeteries, Resorts, Housing, and Environmental Control (ECO). Bernard’s multifaceted experience reflects a profound commitment to sustainable environmental practices and a proven track record in delivering high-quality services.

Clinton Geyser holds a BSc. (Hons) Geography and Environmental Management MSc. Environmental Management (University of Johannesburg).

Clinton has over fifteen years’ experience in the environmental management field as an Environmental Assessment Practitioner and as an Environmental Control Officer. Clinton has managed and conducted NEMA Applications, including compilation of Environmental Impacts Reports, Environmental Management Programmes, and Feasibility and Environmental Screening Assessments on a variety of projects in the Western, Eastern and Northern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Free State, including:

  • Civil engineering infrastructure such as pipelines, Wastewater Treatment Works, and roads
  • Solar PV facilities
  • Agricultural developments, including reservoirs and dams.
  • Telecommunications masts
  • Residential, Industrial, Commercial and Resort Developments
  • Cemeteries
  • Waste Management Licenses

Clinton is a Green Star SA Accredited Professional and has several years’ experience in the tourism and conservation industry.

    Maboee Nthejane has a BSc. from the National University of Lesotho, with biology and physical geography as majors. He also has a BSc. Honours in botany from the University of the Free State and an MSc. in botany from the University of the Free State. Maboee worked as an Environmental Control officer at Mohale Dam for one year and six months during the time of Phase 1B of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project. He also worked part-time in environmental consulting for one year and six months while completing his MSc. at the University of the Free State, and subsequently worked as an Environmental Officer for the Western Cape Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning for 13 years. Maboee, therefore, has significant experience working in government and in the private sector on a wide variety of projects that include inter alia, the following:

    • Agri-industrial development projects ranging from small-scale to major
    • Infrastructure development projects such as highways, seawater desalination plants, municipal water purification plants, reservoirs and pipelines, as well as wastewater treatment works
    • Housing projects, ranging from municipal housing to gap-market housing to high-income estates, as well as resorts.
    • Base stations for telecommunication and data banks for storing digital information.
    • Biofuel plants, industrial parks, truck stops, major and smaller retail centres
    • Aquaculture projects such as abalone farms and fish farms
    • Coastal erosion protection works and river mouth management projects, as well as the maintenance works required by freshwater bodies.
    • Community development projects such as adult education and community centres

    Maboee Nthejane

    Bianca has studied at the University of Western Cape (2009) and obtained a degree in Environmental Science. She is currently in the process of completing her degree in her MPhil: Environmental Management, and her focus is: EIAs, Sustainability, NEMA Regulations, Public Participation. She obtained her National Diploma and BTECH degree in Environmental Management at Cape Peninsula University of Technology. 

    Bianca has over 20 years in the environmental sector as an Environmental Manager and has also worked at the Western Cape Department of Environmental Affairs & Development Planning as an Environmental Control Officer.  

    Bianca has overseen the full spectrum of environmental processes, including EIAs, EMPr, ECO services, compliance audits, and strategic environmental assessments. She has performed environmental audits, drafted technical reports, and provided regulatory advice to internal departments.

    She has extensive experience in environmental reporting for renewable energy projects (solar and wind farms up to 500 MW).

    Andrie has a Master of Environmental Management degree from Cape Peninsula University of Technology, her dissertation focused on wildfire regimes in the Boland Mountain Complex, Western Cape. She also holds a B-Tech degree in Nature Conservation from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University and a National Diploma in Nature Conservation from Cape Peninsula University of Technology.

    Andrie has worked in various governmental spheres (CapeNature and the City of Cape Town) and the private sector (Cape Peninsula Fire Protection Association, Stellenbosch University, Ubisane Wildlife Reserve) as a nature conservatist and environmental management professional with over 10 years of experience.

    With a BCom in HR Management from MANCOSA and extensive experience supporting executive teams, I contribute to the efficiency of environmental consulting operations at EnviroAfrica.

    My role supports Environmental Assessment Practitioners through effective HR administration, document control, compliance coordination, and stakeholder communication, ensuring smooth project delivery and alignment with regulatory requirements.
